Question: Did Mahabharata really happen or is it all fiction?
Answer: I have read around 20–22 books on Mahabharat from different angles. After reading all these books I have made a simple theory to understand Mahabharat that is there are 02 ways to look at the epic. First, Consider everything fiction and assume that someone has written a big story which B R Chopra is shown to the tv and it has never happened. With this theory, you can accept anything from arrows leaving the fire to Gandhari having 100 kids. Secondly, Accept that Mahabharat has indeed happened and try to understand the contemporary view of it. This theory will discard drama part and you have to accept that in reality the epic was something else but retelling has added lots of drama and fictions to it. I accept this view and try finding answers to different questions since lots of time ahs passed hence not much authentic data is available to validate this theory 100% but I believe that Mahabharat did happen.

Whole Mahabharat looks to me as existence of different personalities and their behavior and clashes of their mindset, and then to set supremacy of their views, they fought, result looks senseless as it finally ends with Krishna even losing his clan.
