13 Non-Popular but Must do things in Goa

If you are not a hippie and have a vision for the world beyond booze and pubs then this blog is for you. I am sharing here 13 must-do things that one can do in Goa beyond pubs & casinos.

1. Drive a rented 2 wheeler:
If you are a tourist, you can book an airconditioned cab but to enjoy Goa freely and to be a traveler, you must visit it by a rented vehicle.

2Naval Aviation Museum:
While everyone will tell you to go to this beach and that beach in Goa, keep Naval Aviation Museum at top of your list. It is a must-visit place. It has a huge and terrifying collection of old wartime ships and machines.

3. Fontainhas:
Goa was a Portuguese colony and in fontainhas, there is a row of houses that were still some Portuguese lives. It's a surreal experience to visit this place.

4. Water Sports:
Goa is heaven for the water sports lover. One can quench its thirst by many water games available here.

5. Avoid Baga & Calangute Beach:
Yes. You heard it right. Avoid Baga & Calangute beach. Everyone will tell you to go to these beaches but these beaches are so crowdy that you will feel suffocated there. Doesn't matter how far you can see, you will see the sea of peoples. You can go to Arambol in North & Cavalossim in South.

6. Mandovi River Sunset Cruise:
A Cruise trip to Mandovi river is a very underrated thing. You can go to different islands and also the breathtaking sunset view on this river cruise.

7. A trip to Bom Jesus Basilica & the church of St Francis of Assisi:
A trip on history lane of these churches situated directly in front of each other is surely a must-do a thing in Goa. You will get a glimpse of Goan history at this place. Also, the Church of St Francis Assisi is the only church in goa that has a museum attached.

8.Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception:
The specialty of this church is its location. It is situated in a square. Yes, you heard it right. It is situated just beside a road and has a very picturesque view. One can sit on its stairs and enjoy its view.

9.Spice Village Tour in Goa:
In your daily, you may use different spices but visiting a spice plantation village may give you butterfly in your stomach. Something, that you will cherish for the rest of your life.
10. Shopping at Anjuna Beach:
Shopping at Anjuna Beach is an enriching experience for every shopaholic. You will get lots of fancy stuff at the very roadside price but beware; keep your bargaining mode on.
11. A train ride to Dudhsagar Falls:
In Monsoon time, this is a must-do activity. Keep a day off for this. You will get some postcard images and some breathtaking views.
12. Visit the Butterfly Conservatory, Ponda:
It is another thing that no one will tell you about. You will get butterflies of different colors and types.
13. Sunrise in North and Sunset in South:
Watching the sunrise at different beaches of North Goa (prefer Candolim Beach) and sunset at South Goa (prefer Cavelossim Beach) will complete your journey. North Goa usually has crowded beaches hence it is more preferable in the morning time while South Goa being less crowdy, is a leisure place for honeymoon goers or for couples, wants to spend some peaceful time watching the sunset.

Alvida 2018 & Welcome 2019

First of all, I am really feeling bad that a blog that I should have written in December now I am writing in Feb. Anyways let's get back to review of 2018. This was an eventful year, a year where I have taken certain decisions that may make or break me in the future (Speaking Financially).
Below is the summary of how 2018 has fared on different factors and aim for 2019:
Financially: 2018 was a game-changer. I bought a house. It was a long time pending plan. My budget for it was 40 lac but I end up doing it in 52 lac, which's punching above the weight. Coming years will fare whether it was the right decision or not. It was a bucket list point to a home of your own and did it.
Financially last few months of this year were very tight and I am in neck-deep in loan and this situation is likely to persist till June this year.
Reading: This year I could read around 30 books, which is a good number considering I was a little busy this whole year with many assignments.
Traveling: 2018 started on a very bright note as I visited Digha & Mandarmani in January itself but after that year could have much content to show except 01 Kolkata trip in June.
Writing: This year I wasn't much activity on my blog and could write only 17 blogs, this year will try to be more active.
I got some new friends this year. At the end of 2017, I became Library Secretary in Burnpur Club. 2018 added some feather in that cap. I will hope that 2019 will add the cherry on the cake.
Target for 2019:- For 2019, I have very high hopes.
Financially:  This year may be a little tight but will try to ease out the burden by June.
Reading: Target for 2019: 50 books, that precisely is 01 book each week.
Writing: No Doubt I need to be more active and I am already planning to write a few short stories.
Traveling: The target for 2019: Travel 06 new places in 12 months. This year has started well. In Jan, I already visited Bhilai and around areas.
For everything else, finger crossed.
